PANTELLERIA
An authentic “Black Pearl of the Mediterranean” that emerges from the clear and beautiful waters of the Mediterranean. It is in fact a volcanic island located 50 km from the African coast and about 70 km from the Sicilian coast. Features of the island are the famous “dammusi”: old rural homes now converted into comfortable and charming accommodation, the village of “Sesi” where were built with huge blocks of lava stone, the tombs of dignitaries and village chiefs, the Neolithic village, consisting of some Punic tanks where they were discovered the famous Roman heads, as well as amphorae, remains of old millstones made of lava stone carved by Phoenician craftsmen.
But Pantelleria is of course famous for the beautiful sea with the picturesque bays such as: “Cala Gadir”, “Cala Elephant Arch”, “Cala Levante” perhaps the most beautiful side with the Big Stack of Punta Tracino, and even the beautiful ” Cala Tramontana “and finally” Cala Five Tooth”. Of spectacular beauty is the “Lake of the Mirror” which is an ancient volcanic crater surrounded by mud and hot springs.
